Top Take-Aways from Bart

Every interaction is an opportunity to make someone feel a certain way.
Kindness, inclusion, and meaningful action are what transform hospitality from a transaction into a life-giving experience.

Stories That Stuck

  • “You Were Not Selected” → “I See You.”
After receiving rejection news, Bart saw a man whose sign read “I might as well be invisible.”
Offering him a Gratitude Stone reminded everyone that people don’t want our money, they want to be seen.

  • The Frogs on the Log
“Three frogs decided to jump. How many are left?”
    — Still three. Because deciding isn’t doing.
➤ Action, not intention, changes lives.

  • Q’s Lesson
The homeless man’s only wish was acknowledgment.
➤ See people. Make them feel seen.

The KIND Framework

K – Kind Over Right
Be flexible, empathetic, and human. Policies protect businesses; kindness builds loyalty.

“Make exceptions to create something exceptional.”

I – Include Others
No one should sit or stand alone, at a conference, at work, or in life.

“Every day, look for the ‘Heathers’, those new faces waiting to be invited in.”

N – Notice, Anticipate, Overdeliver
Notice what’s needed before it’s asked.
Anticipate and act like Grace from the lounge or the Castle Hill Inn team—who noticed without being told.

“Delivering is expected. Overdelivering is remembered.”

D – Doing Great
Sometimes, people just need to hear it: “You’re doing great.”
Inspired by a student named Ben who wrote, “Will you tell me one more time?”

Small words can save someone’s spirit.

#BeBamboo

Bamboo bends but doesn’t break.
In storms, oak trees topple—but bamboo flexes, adapts, and endures.

“Control what you can. Adapt to what you can’t.
Bending isn’t breaking, be bamboo.”

Greatest Learnings

  1. Kindness isn’t weakness, it’s strength in motion.

  2. Connection beats correction. Be kind over right.

  3. Inclusion starts with noticing. Say hello, invite someone in.

  4. Doing what ‘most people don’t’ defines leadership.

  5. You are doing great. Keep reminding yourself—and others—of that truth.
