For many organizations, you may be in the middle of working on forecasts and budgets for next year.

Congratulations on a record-breaking year.  You and your team crushed it! 

 “Well done, hip hip hurray, GET READY FOR MORE, starting today”

But things have changed.  The competitors are doing X, and we are doing Y.  It’s harder to connect with customers.  They have more choices than ever before.  They are more informed about our product than we are thanks to the Internet.  The economy is unstable.  There is political uncertainty.  At times, the country seems divided. 

 Doing more with less might mean:

-Limited resources

-Time constraints

The way around, above, beyond, and through would involve tactics of time management, prioritization, automation, technology, delegation, and outsourcing.

For the purpose of today’s message, we will share a few uniquely remembered and proven BEST PRACTICES for TIME MANAGEMENT:

1. “Tomorrow I Go On Vacation… FOCUS” - set a deadline for completion of certain tasks.  Act as though you will be out of the office (on safari, without Wi-Fi) and need to FOCUS on getting the priorities done.

2. “My Computer and Phone Died… AVOID DISTRACTION” -  this allows you to avoid distractions created by “scrolling” and getting “refreshed from technology refreshes” while the important work may be human-directed and related.

3. “I Have A Surprise Birthday Party... DON’T PROLONG TASKS” - you can’t be late to a surprise birthday party.  The embarrassment of ruining the surprise would be too much to face, so the consequences of not doing your most important tasks first are massively negative.  Avoid stretching out tasks because you think you have the time to extend.
